After viewing this DVD most bird lovers would be 'green with envy' of the routes that the legendary photographer Peter Odekerken has travelled over the past 10 years. Peters still photography is well known and admired. Now he shares with us all the first DVD in a series depicting a plethora of species filmed at various collections worldwide.

A Selection of South American Parrots Part One features 80 species and subspecies in captivity, including the Macaws, Amazons, Conures, Pionus Parrots, Mountain Parakeets, Caiques and Hawk-headed Parrots to name a few. Peter narrates basic details on each species, including distribution and status in the wild and in aviculture. Capturing the antics, behaviour and calls on film show so much about the idiosyncrasies of these superb specimens of South America. Reminiscent of Peter's still photography, the footage is of the highest quality colour presentation. Armchair travel at a fraction of the cost, this is a must-have and a fabulous gift. Peter's next DVD in this series will be on Lories and Lorikeets.

Future Projects...

Peter is involved in A Photographic Guide to Parrots, which is expected to be published in two volumes. Keep an eye on the web site as the first volume nears completion. Expected late 2007.

Another project is a book with all of the world’s Cockatoos photographically illustrated showing their life with a number of images for each species. It is the intention of the author to use wild images with a minimum use of captive subjects. Many of the Australian species have been photographed and more trips are planned for island species.
